Important Campaign Message
AGENDA AND IMPORTANT ISSUES

My message to the people of Lowell is this “Be aware of who we were, proud of who we are, and excited about who we will be”. I may sound crazy, but I’m running for City Council to help push us towards the Vision of being the best mid-sized city in American. From its founding in 1826 until this very day, Lowell has always been about the hard work, civic pride, and can do attitude of its residents.

Who

My beautiful wife and I were both born and raised in the Highlands section of Lowell. I, along with my two older sisters, was blessed to have an amazingly strong mother who showed us the value of hard work and commitment to those you love. As a product of the Lowell Public School system (Washington, Daley, LHS) I received a great education from one of the most diverse systems in America. After graduating from UMass-Amherst and realizing I was probably not going to become next Commissioner of Major League Baseball, I settled into a career managing a small business trade association. Currently, I am the Executive Director of the New England Service Station and Automotive Repair Association (NESSARA) and co-founder of a small business consulting company, Association Affinity Group. When it came time to start a family, there was only one place for my wife and I. Now, as the proud father of three children, it’s their future that has motivated me to run for Lowell City Council

I’m am the proud grandson of former State Representative Edward LeLacheur, the coach of the PYO Minor League Spinners, and a parishioner of St. Rita’s Church.

I hope you will consider trusting me to be one of the new leaders working to “Shape the Future of Lowell” by casting your vote for me on Sept. 26th (Primary) and Nov. 7th (General Election).

Message

My message to the people of Lowell is this “Be aware of who we were, proud of who we are, and excited about who we will be”. I may sound crazy, but I’m running for City Council to help push us towards the Vision of being the best mid-sized city in American. From its founding in 1826 until this very day, Lowell has always been about the hard work, civic pride, and can do attitude of its residents. We created an industrial system that was the envy of our nation, established the first co-ed integrated high school in America, created the first urban national park, developed a world class University and Community College, built arena’s, ballparks, museums, and festivals, all while becoming one of the most diverse places on earth. If that doesn’t make you proud to be live in Lowell, I don’t know what will.

With all our success, we still have a lot to do to achieve the Vision of being the best mid-sized city in American. We must invest in our K-college education system, grow our commercial and industrial tax base, update our housing stock, and enhance the public safety of our residents. This will not be easy, and some difficult decisions will have to be made, but if we all stay focused on a shared vision, I know we can do it.

Agenda and Important Issues

  • Grow the Base

    Taxes:

If Lowell is going to continue its rise and become the best Mid-Sized city in America we must attract, promote and support the commercial and industrial businesses that make up the backbone of any strong municipality. These businesses create jobs, increase property values, and grow the civic pride that is so prevalent in our city. I am committed to holding down the cost of being a resident or business in Lowell, and the best way to do that is by growing the number and value of each rate payer.

    Citizen Participation:

It is wonderful to see more and more Lowellians from all background becoming increasingly involved in the shaping of this community. Our diverse population is one of our greatest strengths and most untapped resources. Accelerating the participation of citizens from all cultural and economic backgrounds is vital to our future.

  • Public Safety

Keeping its citizens safe is the #1 role of government. Providing the proper resources to provide that safety can be a difficult task, but one we must never shy away from. That is why we must make the commitment to growing our tax base so we have the resources necessary to train, equip, and compensate our public safety men and women.

  • Education

Providing the opportunity for children and adults alike to learn and grow into their highest potential is the hallmark of the best places to live in America. Lowell has a great head start on becoming unmatched in these educational opportunities. Our Pre-K -12 public and private schools along with Middlesex Community College and UMass-Lowell are only the beginning. The Arts and Entertaining sector provide learning experiences other community would love to have, while non-profit and government training programs allow everyone the opportunity for career advancement. All of the tools are in place to provide a world class education to anyone who wants it here in Lowell. It will not be easy, and we will need everyone’s help to fund such an ambitious goal, but we must never lose sight of how important our education system is to the long term health of this city.
